| The karyotype is from a metaphase of the allopolyploid Tragopopogon mirus. The blue chromosomes are DAPI stained for DNA and have been labelled by fluorescence in situ hybridisation to show rDNA signals (yellow and pink signals). The chromosome set has also been split into the two parental genomes, the T.dubius-origin set and the T.porrifolius-origin set using GISH (D- and P-genomes respectively).
